Yamaha launch HS3 & HS4 monitors

Company expand HS powered monitor range

Yamaha HS3 HS4 active studio monitor

Yamaha have announced the release of the HS3 and HS4, two new powered studio monitor models that aim to make the signature sound of their HS-series units available to the widest possible range of producers, editors and content creators.

The company say that the new models deliver the high-end features of their larger siblings in a more compact form factor which will meet the needs of those who have limited space, but don’t want to compromise on audio quality. The HS3 pairs a 3.5-inch driver with a 0.75-inch soft-dome tweeter, whilst the HS4 employs a 4.5-inch driver and 1-inch soft dome tweeter, and both cabinet designs utilise Yamaha’s proprietary Twisted Flare Port technology, which has been designed to reduce air turbulence in the rear bass reflex port in order to provide clear and accurate bass.

In terms of connectivity, stereo line-level inputs are provided on XLR/TRS combo sockets, RCA and 3.5mm mini-jack connectors. A Class-D amplifier is housed in the left speaker cabinet, which can be connected to the right cabinet via a speaker cable, and three-way Room Control and High Trim switches offer a range of EQ settings to adjust the monitors’ tonal balance to suit the room and compensate for increased low-frequency levels when placing them near walls. Volume and power controls are available on the front panel, along with a 3.5mm mini-jack headphone output.

Pricing & Availability

The new monitors are available now, with the HS3 priced at £233 excluding VAT and the HS4 at £270 excluding VAT. Prices are per pair.
