Earthworks unveil SR5117 wireless capsule

Fits Sennheiser handheld radio mic systems

Earthworks SR5117 condenser mic capsule handheld Sennheiser radio transmitters

Earthworks recently released line-up of vocal microphones have proved to be a popular addition to the company’s range, quickly becoming their best-selling models despite only a few months after their initial launch. They have now released the SR5117, which makes the condenser capsule of the SR117 available to those using Sennheiser’s range of handheld radio mics.

The SR5117 is said to offer the power and quality of a condenser microphone but with the safety and familiarity of a dynamic, boasting an even frequency response which allows it to deliver a clean and natural sound. Importantly, its supercardioid polar pattern remains consistent across the frequency range, resulting in less colouration of off-axis sounds and allowing it to offer the best possible rejection of feedback.

Key Specs

  • Frequency Response: 20Hz – 20kHz
  • Polar Pattern: Supercardioid
  • Sensitivity (1kHz): 6.3 Mv/Pa (-44 dBV/Pa)
  • Weight: 118g

In terms of compatibility, the capsule can be used with the following Sennheiser wireless transmitter systems:

  • EW-D
  • Evolution G4 500, 300 and 100 Series
  • Digital 9000 Series
  • Digital 6000

The SR5117 joins the SR3117, a version of the capsule designed for Shure wireless systems that was released in April 2023.
